Where are we up to?
No doubt there are some people in Pant who have missed that thereโs a campaign to save the Cross Guns and re-open as a community hub. You may be wondering what that will look like. Well, the intention is to combine a traditional pub and restaurant from late afternoon into the evening with a cafรฉ from morning until afternoon. Part of our business plan will be to have the toilets refurbished and the interior painted for when the doors open for the first time as our pub.
So, we are two-thirds of the way through the moratorium period, and we thought it was worth updating you on where we are up to. Please do share this information with friends and neighbours to help get the message out.
What we have achieved:
Held a public meeting and Pant Pop-Up Pubs to bring the community together
A good understanding through surveys what changes are required for the Cross Guns to succeed
Created the Cross Guns Community Benefit Society to buy, own and operate the premises
Appointed an initial Board of Directors to steer the business
Written a business plan and community share offer document (on the website soon)
Received the support of Llanymynech & Pant Parish Council, County Councillor, our MP, CAMRA and community pub support organisations
What we still need:
Obviously, an offer for the freehold of the pub to be accepted.
Everyone to turn their pledges into real cash investments when the time comes.
Businesses that share our vision โ as investors, donors, mentors or even joint venture partners.
Volunteers โ to help run the pop-up pubs, deliver leaflets and become involved in the Cross Guns if we achieve the purchase โ please email info@crossguns.org.uk if you want to join us

โThey say itโs lonely at the top and since the autumn we have felt that itโs been difficult to judge the level of support there is for a community-owned Cross Guns.โ
Once we launch the community share issue, we will have a month to raise enough money to buy the freehold from Admiral Taverns. At that point we will definitely know if you, the people of Pant and beyond, want to ensure the Cross Guns continues to serve the community.
Please consider investing in the share offer and if you have any questions, why not come along to the pop-Up Pub on Friday, 20th February so we can answer them.
Thanks for reading!
