The Cross Guns needs you NOW!

we need you

As a community business, the Cross Guns will need a dedicated team of directors to run the business and ultimately speak on behalf of the people of Pant.

It has been great to see such a positive response with almost 100 people making pledges so far, along with over 50 people coming to the first public. It’s inspiring to see so many people passionate about the future of Cross Guns. So many more have contributed to online discussions and surveys, which are helping shape the way forward.

Thank you, everyone, it’s appreciated.

What is Needed Now!

We now need volunteers to join the group to take on the next stage. What’s needed is a small group to form the initial Board of Directors to run our community enterprise.

The eyes of the law directors of a Community Benefit Society are just the same as those of directors of local small businesses and big national chains. They have the authority to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Society’s business.

“If you have experience in business, running a charity or other front-facing businesses, we’d love to hear from you.”

Why is this so important?

Without an active and vibrant group of Directors, we won’t be able to make a success of a community-owned Cross Guns, nor will we be able to deliver what the community wants from a community pub, truly.

Could you be a Director?

No formal qualifications are required to become a Director. Specific individuals are barred from serving as a Director we can discuss this with you if you have any doubts.

There are several legal duties a Director has, but they are not onerous, and if you are interested, we can provide more information.

An essential duty is to act in the best interests of the Society and its members as a whole. A Director should not act in his/her own interest, the interests of any section of society or of any outside organisation.

Directors must also act carefully and responsibly. Directors are expected to demonstrate the level of skill, care, and competence appropriate to their knowledge and experience.

Ideally, we would like about 10 local people to serve on our first Board of Directors to kick-start the project to purchase the Cross Guns for the community.
