Results from 100 surveys
As we reached the milestone of 100 survey results this week, we thought weโd share these initial results with you.
Actually, at the time of writing, there are now 102 survey results in, and they give us a first indication of how popular the pub could be in community ownership.
According to 94% of the responses, itโs essential to have a local pub in Pant. Around 39% say that they would use the pub about once a week, with only 14% saying they would use it more often.
Unsurprisingly, perhaps most people 85% say they want to see the pub offering lunches and dinner, with a games room coming in much lower amongst survey respondents.
Sunday lunches are the most popular catering choice, but weekday catering is deemed essential to many too.
A wide range of responses were received to the question โAre there other services you think the Cross Guns should look at providing?โ including local beer, community cafรฉ, quizzes and community workshops.
At this stage, about 64% of people returning a survey said that they would consider helping the pub financially.

If we are going to make a success of a community-owned pub, it is crucial that we understand what stopped people from using the pub in the past. Some 36% of responses said that they were not previously made to feel welcome, and 39% said โmanagementโ stopped them from using the pub.
This is something a new community management team would address as a priority. We aim to provide staff members with the necessary training to offer a friendly and welcoming pub for the entireย community.ย
Obviously, these results are currently only from a minority of households in the village, but we wanted to share them at this early stage. We encourage you to return your survey as soon as possible so we can update this for the public meeting on 20th November.
If you can pledge your financial support, it will be greatly appreciated. We’ll only ask for your pledge if we can get a successful offer accepted for the pub.
To pledge, please follow the link belowย

If you have already pledged and would like to increase your pledge, please use the same link, and we will update the system accordingly.
A public meeting will be held on November 20th at 7:15 p.m. at Pant Memorial Hall, where we will present the results of the survey. This will give us the opportunity to discuss how we can ensure the Cross Guns meets the needs of the local community.
