It's now April and we only have until the 20th of this month to raise £348,000 to bid to buy the pub for the community.
|
We had a really encouraging start after we launched the community shares, but unfortunately, we are still a long way short. We currently have about £40,000 which is absolutely fantastic for our small group but clearly not enough to bring about our vision of a community-focussed Cross Guns village hub.
|
We know that the economic climate is not ideal to be asking for investment at this time, but the truth of the matter is that this month is probably our last chance to make a bid and create a positive, community-centred hub for the village.
|
If the vendors sell to someone else, we will give everyone their investment back and then we won't have a say in what happens to the pub building and grounds.
|
And if no-one else comes forward to buy the pub after the 20th and we do not have enough money to offer then we won't be able to buy it and who knows how long it might stay empty and an eyesore.
|
